What Closet’s AI does, how it processes wardrobe data and where it can be wrong.

Effective: October 5, 2026 · Last updated: October 5, 2026

1. AI features

Closet uses AI for clothing recognition, closet scans, natural-language and photo search, styling, outfit generation, wardrobe insights, purchase suggestions and travel planning. Features depend on configuration, connectivity, plan allowances and provider availability. An unavailable feature is not evidence that an analysis was completed.

2. What is processed

Requested analysis may include uploaded photos, clothing attributes, relevant wardrobe pieces, style preferences, feedback and conversation text. Closet uses summaries and retrieved pieces rather than sending an entire large closet for every styling request. Scan candidates and image embeddings may be retained as part of your wardrobe records.

3. External providers

AI requests are routed through the Lovable AI Gateway. The current implementation uses OpenAI models for vision and styling and Google Gemini embeddings for image similarity. Providers can change; relevant policy changes will be disclosed. These are external processing services, not exclusively on-device analysis.

4. Errors and corrections

Recognition may miss, duplicate or misclassify garments and colors; photo similarity is not proof that two items are identical. Outfit suggestions can be inappropriate for a dress code, weather or personal needs. Review results and use the available editing and duplicate-review controls. Human corrections remain important.

5. Responsibility and limits

AI output is a suggestion, not professional, financial, health or legal advice. You are responsible for clothing choices, purchases and sharing. Scores and recommendations are not guarantees. AI processing requires internet access; queued photos or changes are not a promise of continuous background processing while the app is closed.

6. Privacy and use

Your photos remain yours. Closet processes them to deliver requested services, not to claim ownership. AI usage logs record operational metadata rather than image or prompt content; saved conversations are distinct records. See Privacy and User Content for storage and provider details. Do not submit unnecessary sensitive information.
